Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great, long Memorial Day Weekend with D's sister and her family in the TC. B especially loves to play with her cousin C. She doesn't have any friends her age here, so getting to play with her similar aged cousins is always fun. D helped uncle J with some projects, and the weather was perfect for being outside all weekend.

The kids help put up the playset. They couldn't wait for it to be done because they just wanted to play on it, so they thought they would "speed-up" the process.

Putting up the beam that held the swings.

It was finally done and the kids could enjoy the swings and the slides. They both got a lot of use over the rest of the weekend.

The sandbox was also fun. There was some fresh dirt from the playset construction that the kids eventually found. They were quite dirty at the end of the day.

After all the construction, playing outside, and the quick baths, we decided to head to a St. Paul Saints game. D trying to get the carseats arranged in the SUV with the help of the kids.

At the baseball game. We were looking into the sun, which made it hard to see, but the kids kept us busy anyway. It got late and had a been a long day, so we headed home before the end of the game. It was still 10pm or a little after when the kids finally got into bed.

J's sister and her boyfriend joined us one day. We played all kinds of outside games, T-ball, ladder golf, crochet, and more.

B trying to pitch the ball to aunt T.

At bedtime the kids got a story and they both had to sit right up next to uncle J to see the pictures. It was great to watch them get so involved with the story.

Cousin C had a fun firefighter costume that B really wanted to dress-up in. Daddy helped her put out the fire.

There was lots of other fun too, but I had to edit the amount of pictures.

Talking on the Phone

B loves to talk on the phone to anyone who is willing to talk to her. Any time someone calls and she sees or hears me on the phone she just keeps saying, "I want to talk," until we let her.

Here she was talking to grandpa and grandma. They called while she was eating her ice cream, and she put that aside to talk. We were quite surprised, as she really loves ice cream. I guess talking on the phone is even better than ice cream.

Keeping Entertained

So I haven't been very good about updating the blog, as these pictures are from a week ago.

B has been waking up earlier in the morning, so it has been harder to keep her entertained all day. She gets easily bored with a lot of things (sounds like her Daddy).

This day we decided to make some play dough, B really enjoyed that and Daddy even played with her. It is nice to be able to pull it out and play with it at other times now too.

We also had a back yard full of dandelions, it was like a field, so B went out and pulled a few to help. She just thought she was getting flowers.

As Still As I Can Stand

I tried to get some pictures of B while she was just standing outside waiting for grandma to finish mowing. She stood there for about 1 picture then was ready to run off. I coaxed her to stand a little longer and actually got 4-5 pictures. That was all the longer I could convince her to stay. I thought it was precious that she "posed" the way she did. That was the only part I didn't have to ask for.

Lots of Outside Fun

After our doctor's appointment we spent the rest of the weekend with grandpa and grandma. We had a lot of fun, especially B. She would wake up early every morning just to play with them.

B was really tired from being up so early and having a long day running errands that when we went back to grandpa and grandma's all she wanted to do was take a nap with grandpa. Grandpa fell asleep but B didn't, which we knew would happen, so we eventually had to move her to her own room.

It warmed up nicely on Saturday afternoon, so we had to get outside. There is lots of room to run and play on the farm, which was great for B. Here she is trying to catch bubbles.

Grandma and B writing with sidewalk chalk on the driveway.

B taking a 4-wheeler ride with Daddy. Later she even got a tractor ride. Doing it with Daddy makes it extra special. He lets her do things, like steer, that I would have a hard time doing.

A little basketball with grandpa.

D didn't get to spend much of the afternoon with us. We have 2 yards to take care of, so he quickly made a trip to our old house to mow that yard and bring the mower back so we could at least keep up with our yard here.

It's a Girl!

We had our ultrasound on Friday and found out that the baby is a girl. We enjoy knowing, but I think D is a little disappointed. B isn't though. She always thought she was going to have a baby sister, and she was right. We look forward to meeting her in a few months.

A picture of her hands and feet, all up by her face.

Her foot was by her head in most of the pictures and the doctor said she was kicking herself in the head quite a bit.

She looks healthy and has all of her fingers, toes, ribs, etc. There isn't a very clear picture of just her face because the placenta was in the way, but it was still a lot of fun to see all the other pictures.

Working Cattle

Today D went out to help some of our friends work their cattle. We joined them for lunch and B really wanted to go help too. We thought we would let her at least see what they did, but we were a little worried that she would be afraid of the cows and horses.

The first thing D did was to take her on a little horse ride. She wasn't scared at all and kept asking to ride it again.

D waiting to push the next set of cows through the chute.

D in the chute where B watched the cows get vaccinated.

B could watch the cows up close. They weren't very far below the top of the chute, which didn't bother B either. When one of the cows put her nose up toward B she did back up a bit, but as soon as it moved she looked right over the edge again.

Refreshments after a long day, except it was only half over (at least for B and I).

B had so much fun and always wanted to be where the action was. It was hard to keep her out of the way. While we would wait for the next group of cows we sat by the pickups in the pasture area and the cows wandered around freely. B didn't mind, even though they are 20 times her size. It was a long day, but we all had a good time. We definitely hope to be doing this again next year.

Bug Exploration

We had a fly on our window and B couldn't resist looking at it up close.

Lately she has become a little more timid about things so when the fly moved...

B jumped back.

It probably would have been funnier as a video, but this was all I got. Even though the fly scares her when he moves, she still can't resist looking at it closely again.

Quite The Imagination

B wanted to go to Grandma's house and she had to take everybody (her babies and stuffed animals) with her.

She couldn't "drive" her car and carry everybody on her lap, so she made a trailer. It worked pretty well for her. She even decided there was room for her golf clubs. I guess she will be busy at Grandma's house!

Walking With Daddy

The other night we went for a walk, and any time Daddy can come with us B wants to walk with "her Daddy". It is precious to see her little legs trying to keep up with Daddy's long legs.
