Working Cattle

Today D went out to help some of our friends work their cattle. We joined them for lunch and B really wanted to go help too. We thought we would let her at least see what they did, but we were a little worried that she would be afraid of the cows and horses.

The first thing D did was to take her on a little horse ride. She wasn't scared at all and kept asking to ride it again.

D waiting to push the next set of cows through the chute.

D in the chute where B watched the cows get vaccinated.

B could watch the cows up close. They weren't very far below the top of the chute, which didn't bother B either. When one of the cows put her nose up toward B she did back up a bit, but as soon as it moved she looked right over the edge again.

Refreshments after a long day, except it was only half over (at least for B and I).

B had so much fun and always wanted to be where the action was. It was hard to keep her out of the way. While we would wait for the next group of cows we sat by the pickups in the pasture area and the cows wandered around freely. B didn't mind, even though they are 20 times her size. It was a long day, but we all had a good time. We definitely hope to be doing this again next year.
